Meet Mohamed

My name is Mohamed Talaso and I came from Kenya. I have been living in America for about 10 years.  I don't remember much about my childhood.

I want to major in sports administration and I want to be a basketball coach when I grow up. I want to go to college to have a successful life. I have created goals for myself and going to college is one of my goals. I want to go to college because I want to have a good job when I grow up to help me out with my family and my life.

I plan to give back to my community by becoming a basketball coach or trainer and helping people out with their skills. I started learning about coaching as an 8th grader and I started training kids in our apartments.  I taught them how to play basketball.

I also do volunteer work to get volunteer hours for my AVID class and for college. I help coach a basketball team at a Junior High School. Some people I know who have served as a role model to me are Basketball coaches, amd teachers. My Junior High, and High School teachers, and my basketball coaches, coach Joel Ryman, Eddie Gallagher, and Jake Garson. They have taught me a lot about basketball and succeding. It was great that I met these people because I wouldn't have known much.

A moment that has changed the way I live is when I got the Mayor's Award to Youth and it made me realize I could do anything, and become anything I want.

In 5 years from now, I want to be in college and studying my major. If I could change the world, I would do it by organizing a group who will help out people who need help and are struggling because I struggled when I was young and I still struggle but I find my way out.
